If you’re happiest when you’re standing on a surf board catching epic waves, you may want to add a few highly rated surf destinations to your bucket list. Especially if you’re a keen traveller. To discover a few international surfing locations which will take your breath away and will provide you with a challenge, simply continue reading.

The Best Surf Destinations:

New Zealand:

New Zealand is home to some of the most beautiful, rugged surf beaches in the world. All of which offer ideal conditions for surfing. Better yet, New Zealand is still a relatively underrated surfing destination, so you won’t have to fight with other surfers, in order to catch the perfect wave. Some pristine surf beaches in New Zealand include Piha Beach, 90 Mile Beach and Shipwreck Bay.

Shipwreck Bay in particular, draws professional surfers each year as it offers one of the most impressive left hand breaks in the world. While Piha Beach is a picturesque black sand beach which offers expert level waves, that should only be attempted by skilled, experienced surfers. If you’re looking to catch waves at a relatively safe surf beach which is ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers, you may be better off heading to 90 Mile Beach.

Australia:

As one of the largest islands in the world, it’s no wonder that Australia is one of the top surf destinations in the world. One beach that is definitely well worth heading to is Crescent Head, which is located in New South Wales. Crescent Head offer four perfect right hand point breaks and is suitable for beginner surfers as well as intermediate surfers and expert surfers. Due to its premiere waves, countless surf movies have been filmed at Crescent Head, an example of which is Hang Turn, which was released back in 2001.

Alternatively, you may be interested in exploring Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. As it offers picture perfect white sand beaches and world class waves, that have to be experienced to be believed. As a bonus, Surfers Paradise is located within a stone’s throw of a wide variety of tourist attractions such as a handful of theme parks. If you visit Surfers Paradise it’s also well worth taking a day trip to the Gold Coast’s rainforest, to take a hike into paradise.

Bali:

Bali which is a tropical island which is located in Indonesia, hosts numerous professional surf tournaments each year and is a mecca for tourists around the world. Who seek to surf the perfect wave. Some of the best surf beaches in Bali include Padang Padang Left, Dreamland, Kuta, Medewi and Canggu. If you want to make the most of your surf focused trip, there are a plethora of professional surf schools who feature professional teachers, who’ll be able to show you the best spots to find killer waves.

So if your ideal vacation would be spent on top of a surf board, catching epic waves, it’s well worth visiting New Zealand, Australia and Bali. On a multi-stop, international surf trip, which you’ll remember for the rest of your life!
