Could the love of cars be described as a family trait, handed off generation after generation? If you look at the men in the Raben family, you’d say so! Dave Raben brought his family to America in the early 1900s. They migrated from New york to the Midwest and settled in Wichita Falls, Texas. He established “Lone Star Auto Parts, ” an automobile salvage business which he ran until he retired. The Raben car legacy was founded. Abe Raben, Dave’s son, expanded on the family business in Wichita Falls. He established Lone Legend Motor Company, a used car lot. He also started out “Speedrome, ” a dirt and grime oval quarter-mile midget racetrack. Roger Ward and Lloyd Ruby started their careers driving for Abe at Speedrome; each of them went on to become world famous race car drivers.
