The hard, rocky and bouncing conditions that are traditionally associated with WACA ground in Perth; will now be available right at the ICC Global Cricket Academy, at Dubai Sports City. In a unique attempt to replicate the varied cricket conditions from all over the world to one location, the ICC Global Cricket Academy has gone on an importing spree - importing of tones of soils from the eminent cricket grounds from all over the world. Their goal is tough; but they are determined to achieve it. The management of ICC Global Cricket Academy seeks to turn it into the best cricket training facility in the world, and they are ready to pack it with all kinds of innovative features to make this happen. It does not matter if the task is as colossal as replicating the cricket conditions from all over the world right in the middle of the city of Dubai. In fact, the globally renowned academy is already up with the project; it is importing specific types of clay, soil, and turf to prepare cricket surfaces with different agronomic features. Pakistan was the first country from where special clay was brought for the purpose. They have been utilized at both ovals and the practice wickets. The authorities are now concentrating in preparing the Australian type pitches. Nearly 200 tones of clay have been imported from Perth in Western Australia, to prepare a pitch at the ICC Global Cricket Academy ovals and practice area, imitating Perth ground. Another 200 tones of clay from Brisbane - one that is used at the Gabba cricket ground - is going to be laid on to create another Australian-style pitch. After Australia, next it will be England’s turn to lend special pitch to Dubai. In fact, clay from England is already there and an English cricket is half its way. With all these special wickets up there, the first coaching programs will kick off from September at the ICC Global Cricket Academy indoor facility. By October, two ovals will be ready for hosting games and coaching activities.
