2008 jee paper was far tough than last year which checked only the basic knowledge... last yr merit list studs had their marks about 195-200... nd students with 215 marks had their rank about 5000... the concentrations near the closing marks becums very high.. this yr expected merit list marks should be about 140-145... with ranks of 4000 closing at 165 marks or so.. 165-180 should be between 2800-4000 maximum.. 180- 200 should get ranks betwn 1600-2800.. 200-230 will be betwn 800-1600.. 230-270 can cum surely betwn 300-800 ranks.. and above 270 hav their rank under 300...

I think your prediction for above 270 marks needs a review and more realistic

considering the both papers last admision (prev year at 206 marks) may be at 175 marks this year

lets aaume the guy who gets 300 marks gets a rank of 120. then in b/w 300 to 250 there would be around 10 guys on each mark.. then 250 wud fetch u a rank of 620-650..

now at 200... u can expect 20 -25 ppl. on each rank.. u will get appro. 1650- 2000 rank..

at 150 may 30 to 35 on each mark so a rank of 3500 to 3800 is fair estimate..

now i expect at least 70 guys on each mark now. at 120 u'll get a rank of 6000 odd...

This is my assessment. A score of 350-375 is not unlikely and will fetch the person a top twenty rank. But bunching in the 375-275 range should be low. So I expect a person wit 275 to get a rank between 300-400. After this the problem of bunching will start. Here is an optimistic estimate. Person with 200: rank of 1000. Person with 150: rank of 3000. Let us feel good till the results come.

Probably yes.... but u know u are in a range where u could get a rank of 4000 or 3000 or even nothing.. its arange where there are around 100-120 guys on each rank.. so keep ur fingers crossed... if it was ur day u'll have 3500 otherwise not even extended list!!
