India-China border talks in trouble

India and China have held several rounds of bilateral talks to solve the existing border disputes on many occasions but it didn’t deliver any progressive outcome after the talks. India, on the other hand, has been told China that the government of India cannot part with populated areas to settle a border dispute.

Both the Asian giants have grown better trade environment and strong business links in recent past but the border dispute have remained at the similar condition, as it was earlier. According to the Indian officials, China wants India to cede control over parts of the disputed parts of Arunachal Pradesh.

On this demand, Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said:

Any elected government of India is not permitted by the constitution to part with any part of our land that sends representatives to the Indian parliament.

Pranab said in Shillong on Saturday that India’s stand on this issue had been reaffirmed to Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi. The report says that India and China have differences over three main stretches of the Himalayan frontier that are located in the east, central and western parts.

However, China does not recognize eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh as Indian Territory, particularly its border district of Tawang. Now the fresh Chinese claims over Arunachal Pradesh have definitely created hurdle in the progress of border talks between both countries.
