Viewers mainly are interested in correct and accurate information of the events and developments. Discerning viewers easily through whether a report is meant for giving information to the people at large or a planted story aimed at achieving a predetermined objective. News credibility depends on the degree of dispassionate presentation of information. Secondly, if a news presenter has good voice culture, command over the language that would go a long way in making the news a pleasant listening experience. If a newsreader has both a telegenic face, radiogenic voice and reasonably well educated with good general knowledge, he/she would make news presentation a lively one. Earlier generation of AIR news readers like Kandukuri Suryanarayana, Kongara Jaggaiah, Addanki Mannanar, to name only a few used to have most attractive voice culture. In fact many of were trained in former Soviet Russia in voice culture. Training is essential.

Prsentdays are marked by speed and dissemination of news on 24/7 channels is marked by cutthroat competition. Perhaps this maybe one of the reasons fortremendous pressure on newscasters/readers. However, if proper training is given,news readers can make programmes lively. Inews newscasting by and large is fairly interesting, content and presentation-wise. There is vast scope for improving in presentation with phonetic training for newsreaders.

dada approach 2 the guest is very good,and needs 2 be objective oriented in terms of refining the expected political role and should be educative in relaising their areas of defiency and irrationality.The program should be FUN-FILLED and enlightening 2 the guest . The work behind the questionaire is simply outstanding.

Inews `Pin-Conuter' programme is very interesting. The interviewer `Dada' is doing a fine job by asking the interviewee straight and often irksome questions and eliciting answers. Be it a politician, a contesting candidate, a ticket denied aspirant, a veteran whoever it is, Dada is not sparing any one them. In fact what dada, the animated cartoon-like carricature, is doing is giving an expression to many doubts of common people about our leaders belonging to various political parties and clearing the same. In getting answers from the leaders, Dada has been articulating questions in a manner that evokes subtle humour and laughs. And he has been doing good homework before interviewing candidates is evident from the information he gatheres and the irksome questions he asks. That leaders often ditch people once elections are over is a known fact. But the Pin-Counter programme gives an idea to viewers of some of our leaders. It also helps them to revise their opinions about leaders and perhaps choose better persons as their representative than the current lot. The highlight is the decorating of of dada's and viewers' ears with flowers by leaders (when they mince words and give misleading information).

Programmes like pincounter that x-ray leaders by keeping a private-eye on thier omissions and commissions make a good impression on viewers because of their content value.

The Inews channel will be more interesting if it covers issues that affect people in everyday life. For instance the steep rise in prices of essentials, particularly rice which is sold at Rs 39 a kg in the open market, red gram sold at Rs 92 a kg, edible oils to name only a few. It can also corner the government of the day on many public issues by inviting concerned ministers and getting informationfrom them during inews popular programmes like Pin Counter.

Similarly, it can cover on other civic issues like why roads in the city are in such a pitiable state, unbearable traffic jams and traffic gridlocks, incomplete road, water works, passport office blues, woes of railway commuters , students problems, mismanagement by schools and education dept, degeneration in law and situation, insecure conditions.

It is not that people and the rulers are not aware of these problems. Once it is highlighted through popular channels and media the authorities may become more alert.Proactive and public-spirited channels efforts do pay in lessening the plight of ordinary people whose voice is never heard, even if heard ignored.

Proactive channels like inews perhaps can address these and other issues to make the authorities more accountable to people. People ask hundred and ten question when they go for shopping to get the best bargain. Can't they also pay some attention in selecting right candidates? A good and efficient public representative can bring about a vast change in the constituency from where he/she is elected.A one-to-one interview with public reps may also help people know how their MLAs are addressing to civic problems in their areas. Here also a chnnellike inews can do to better conditions perhaps.

Repeating visuals or video footage during news presentation will cause disinterest among viewers and drive them to switch channels or switch off the TV sets altogether. Serious news channels, particularly 24/7 ones, cannot afford fall in TRP ratings and patronage shift of this kind. Secondly lengthy footage given to long and boring speeches by politicians and all and sundry persons at ribbon-cutting and inauguration functions etc will have adverse effect on viewers' interest. Another depressing thing about some news channels is not posting properly trained persons for spot or field coverage of news. Reporters on field beat no doubt are under pressure when covering news. But then if their language is defective and not focused on the relevant news issue, it causes disinterest among viewers. Routine questions like `What is your reaction? ' etc add no value to reports. If a reporter is well trained he/she will put straight quiestions without any ambiguity and get proper information. With proper sync with news readers and field reporters, news bullettins become worthy of watching and informative. Training for field reporters in language skill,s hence is a must for any regional news channel if it wants to make a mark, I feel. If the news focus is more on people's problems and development matters and on issues that would make life a litttle more comfortable to people than on political issues, politicians, channels efforts would be appreciated by average people.

If current topics and people-centric problems are addressed to by the channel, people automatically appreciate the channel. In all these efforts.impartiality and personal and professdional honesty is of utmostmost importance. The emphasis of all this effort is make the administration responsive to people's needs. Interviews with with the big and the influential like ministers, MLS, MPS, high officials may occasionally serve the purpose in giving govt clarification o issues, but if interviews serve as a platform for publicity to the big and the influential. any channel loses whatever credibility they have.
