The worm turns in the latest installment of the immigration political wars, Arizona style. After taking on Sheriff Joe and his aggressive stance on illegal immigration, Mayor Gordon’s own police department were finally allowed to change its policy: Phoenix police may now contact Immigrations and Customs Enforcement when they suspect a person to be in the country illegally, a shift in policy that is expected to increase the number of illegal immigrants deported from the state.
