I bought two units from Heartland America who claimed they were new. One of the remote controls didn't work. Polaroid would not honor the warranty but would sell me one for $29 with shipping. It's unbelievable that they wouldn't send me a remote. They didn't honor Heartland America because Polaroid claims they are not an authorized retailer and could be selling used or refurbished (which they do sometimes, but not in this case). Heartland America would take the whole unit back and give me my money back. This would be better than nothing, but all I really wanted was a remote control that worked.

I had this DVD/DVR player freeze up on me right out of the box. But, after unplugging and restarting it hasn't froze again, yet. My biggest complaints so far is the non-intuitive and complex menu system, the weak processing power when navigating through functions, and the horrible remote control.
