Just gone through your letter. I am late in responding to your mail because I was out of the country. This is still not clear to me why have you written in about 22 blogs that IIWFF 2008 is being hosted by Brandsmith. You informed us that as sole proprietor of Brandsmith You had spent almost Rs 5,00,000 (five lacs) for the dinner party at Asiad Tower . Your word if taken for granted, why it had been thrown at Asiad Tower , why not any other hotel like Hyatt or Le Meridian or at least Hotel Sang Ri La. On a cold rather chilly evening any eye- specialist or any No – 3 ranked Police Official can turn up in an open – air restaurant. Do you believe that any of the wives of renowned industrialists or dignitaries of that stature (elite society) would visit Asiad Tower on a winter late evening movie – party. At the very beginning Ms Shyamali Banerjee informed Mr Sandeep Marwah in this regard. Who will take responsibility of their security ?

Only by way of throwing a dinner party is it possible at all that you can write “the festival IIWFF 2008 is being hosted by Brandsmith” ? In this connection I must mention that I was never informed regarding your company, neither by Shyamali banerjee, nor by Anita Roy Chowdhury. May be, they were not aware of it either. Because Mr Sandeep Marwah, President, AAFT told them that they were hosting this movie – party at Asiad Tower & I had gone through such a news as posted in one portal. So who had thrown this dinner party ?

You had written that you asked for Press Release from Mr Bhaskar & he didn’t sent anything. If not sent across to you, do you hold that right to issue a press release without seeking permission from IWFFSI ? Why such press release will be sent across to the market on your own ! You must be aware that this is absolutely an illegal gesture. You wrote in 22 portals that the IIWFF 2008 was hosted by Brandsmith while only 3 portals the same had been pushed back with a fresh announcement that the festival is being organized by International Women Film festival Society of India. Since last four years IIWFF is being hosted by them taking help from a number of organizations & these organizations are associated with IIWFF in numerous ways. If those organizations start delivering press release on their own what would happen then & where does it lead to ! Holding a complete film festival costs minimum 30 to 40 lacs & can it be equal to just throwing a dinner party ? Does a film festival happen in reality with only a movie – party alone?

You had written also that due to Shyamali’s lapses 1/3 people didn’t turn up. But the day before Inauguration of the festival You had talked to Shyamali & Bhaskar & they assured that 100 people would come. They had sent me a list of their guests who were present on the day. The movie – party was thrown in the banner of IIWFF, still those who were not present for the opening ceremony of the festival at LTG Auditorium were invited for the party ! strange ! This is not a marriage ceremony of yours daughter or Mr Sandeep Marwah’s daughter. Those who least bothered for the film festival should not be invited at all for the party given for the cause of IIWFF 2008. In order to avoid such an affair myself personally as an associate of this festival will take notice of the fact in near future. If IIWFF does lodge a complaint that why those people who didn’t turn up for the festival inauguration ceremony were invited for the movie – party alone given in the name of IIWFF 2008. Who were those invitees IIWFF were never disclosed to IIWFF (although IIWFF delivered a guest list to AAFT who were invited for the movie – party).

In the year 2006 IIWFF as it was held in Delhi , Mr Sandeep Marwah entered the scenario through Lokayata Art Gallery & Mr Sandeep Marwah had thrown a snacks with wine party at Haus Khas village. Afterwards, in the year 2007 Mr Marwah had contributed Rs 25, 000 (twenty five thousand) for the Venue Sponsorship for LOOK BACK IIWFF 2007& he was present in person for the program. Taking cue of that advantage Mr Sandeep Marwah & his pet stuff Mr Harsh Vardhan announced in Habitat Centre & distributed Booklet at Ho Chj Min City in Vietnam that this IIWFF is being hosted by AAFT every year. Shyamali Banerje protested vehemently in this regard later on when she comes to know about that fact.

In the year 2008 after contributing Rs 50,000 he started distributing press releases that AAFT joined hands with IIWFF 08. Apart from the Dinner party other assurances, as it was documented by us, were never fulfilled. AT he Press Conference on 11th Dec’ 08 at IGNCA Media Centre Mr Marwah himself had given announcement that Mr Madhur Vandarkar would be present for the festival & Mr Marwah was agreed to do the film screening (Fashion) at LTG Auditorium only. Only for the sake of Glamour Artist’s (specially that of heroine) presence as it was expected, IIWFF had include the film FASHION even diluting the Rules involved. Mr Bhaskar Deb informed Mr Marwah that Siri Fort tentative booking has been made but need to be paid off (around Rs 60,000 (sixty thousand) & if it is to be done in FICCI Auditorium it costs Rs 25,000 & that need to be paid off. Verbally he was agreed & then all of a sudden it was cancelled & even IIWFF were not informed at all in this regard. Next his new trick – the film COFFE HOUSE screening. Film Division auditorium had been booked & IIWFF was included in that chapter. We don’t know what was the hidden agreement between Shivkala Groups & Mr Marwah. IIWFF were informed that we would be given a dinner cocktail party for the closing day of the festival & it would be hosted at Russian Cultural Centre. Day before screening we were informed that Asutosh rana & Sakshi Tanwa would be present for the film screening. On 21st Dec’ 08 morning we were told that Asotosh Rana is not coming. All press people were invited at Film Division auditorium & we don’t know on which letterhead they were invited. The person who was dealing with press told Shyamali & her crew members that Press people in Kolkata would give coverage for Drinks only, in Delhi , NO ! Should we take it for granted that they were asking for money ! And as a sequel those press people went absconded in the evening Closing Ceremony of the Festival I the evening 21st Dec’ 2008. Strange !

The dinner was given in the evening. From IIWFF side 50 people would be invited as it was told. 25 people were only allowed for the dinner & thereafter Mr Mittal informed Manager, Constitution Club, dinner would be stopped. After watching films 20 guests reached the spot & Shyamali called up Mr Marwah & he asked Shyamali to take them to a restaurant & he will make the payment. Just as it was told that the transport charges (Rs 3,800) for the bus which was hired for transportation of the festival guests would be paid off. Both the incident he had avoided. But the Lady ( Ms Shyamali Banerjee ) who has already shouldered so many responsibilities how far can she bear extra cost ! For 20 people we had to pay almost Rs 8,500 for the dinner & cocktail as there were some dignitaries from the Embassy of France & some other journalists as well. Almost Rs 12,300 is still pending from Mr Sandeep Marwah.

In this connection I must mention that Rs 50,000 which was contributed by Mr Marwah was given as payment for the year 2007 where we put AAFT’s logo after getting his official confirmation that AAFT would be associated with this festival in all promotional matters. Mr Marwah was nominated as Chief Advisor for the year 2007. Nevertheless, without permission from IIWFF Mr marwah started announcing immediately after inauguration,2008 of the festival in his blogs that he has been appointed as Chief Advisor of the festival without mentioning the year clearly.

Last but not the least, we are all grateful to YOU & Mr Sandeep Marwah whatever possible help extended for IIWFF. But this is an earnest request to you to please remove all those press releases from all blogs where it was written IIWFF hosted by Brandsmith & Mr Sandeep Marwah. Please don’t try to play with them as ducks & damage this festival’s image as it is built up slowly & laboriously by Shyamali & Anita Roy Chowdhury. If you don’t stop such playing tricks may I request you to please pay off the loans (almost Rs 15,00,000) as drawn from the market & we would like to ask them to incur those bills in the name both of You & Mr Sandeep Marwah, because you r hosted this film festival. You try to avoid legal issue.

SHYAMOLI BANERJEE DEB : A FRAUD AND SCAMSTER

Dear Madam, 1. This is to inform you that Mrs Shyamoli Banerjee Deb and her husband Mr Bhaskar Deb are frauds of the highest order. They might tout themselves as the biggest thing that happened in the world of women’s film festival but actually they have defrauded a lot of people in Kolkata and Delhi and are in the process of doing the same at a grander level.

2. I am the wife of a dedicated officer of the Indian Army and we have been duped by Shyamoli Banerjee Deb. We had unfortunately given our flat at Dumdum Cantonment Kolkata to Shyamoli Banerjee Deb in 2004 on 11 months contract which was renewed twice on their request ignoring their irregular payment of rent. In Oct 2006 when we required the flat for our own use and requested them very politely to vacate the flat they flatly refused and stopped paying the rent with effect from Nov 2006.

3. Despite repeated emails and registered posts they did not respond till 14 April 07, when my husband went to request them to pay the rent for the last six months, and was physically assaulted, injured and had to lodge a police diary at police station Dumdum Cantonment; being a uniformed personnel he could not retaliate.

4. On 18 Dec 07, he again went to meet them, where he was assaulted by Bhaskar Deb the husband of Shyamoli Banerjee Deb. Pursued by my husband he ran back like a coward into the safety of the housing complex, lost his balance due to his bulk and banged his head against the boundary of the building and got injured . Meanwhile Mrs Shyamoli Banerjee Deb who touts herself as the most polished and cultured lady in town, hurled choicest expletives at my husband ( the filthy language used by her would put the most hardened criminal to shame) and further tried to assault him and was stopped by the residents and bystanders . A police diary was lodged by my husband at Dumdum Police Station.

5. This whole episode was politicized; Mr. Bhaskar Deb apparently with just a few bruises and cuts with the help of an unscrupulous local nursing home got himself admitted to gain sympathy and political mileage. Mrs Mamata Banerjee leader of Trinamool Congress was fed a concoction of lies to gain her confidence, where it was reported in local TV channels like Tara Bangla and GE TV that local CPM workers had attacked Mr. Bhaskar Deb and Mrs Shyamoli Banerjee Deb due to their growing links with Trinamool Congress.

6. Meanwhile a case to evict the illegal occupants of our flat started in Barasat Court in May 2008 which Mrs Shyamoli Banerjee Deb is yet to contest as she is aware that she’ll definitely lose. As on date they have to pay us roughly Rs 1.5 lacs towards rent. They have also not paid the electricity bill for last one year amounting to Rs 11000.

7. They had hired a ground floor shop at Sabbarwal House at 55 Mirza Ghalib Street in Kolkata and had started two businesses Ratrilekha Communications and Samantoral CFCL –Tours and Travels . On inquiry it was found that they have not paid the rent to the owner for the last 3 years. They have also duped various other individuals of sums varying between Rs 5000 to lakhs which is being investigated by leading detective agencies at Kolkata , Delhi and some other locations where they have defrauded individuals.

8. They are now duping the various state governments as well as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Ministry of Women and Child Welfare and other organizations by getting huge sponsorship amounts for organizing film festivals at various locations by creating hype to impress the ministries and thereafter screening non descript films for a small audience!!!! They do not even have a registered office in Delhi and Kolkata, their mobiles listed at various websites are never answered.

9. This email is to make you aware of their illegal activities and request you not to patronize such frauds and scamsters. Our society certainly does not require such polished criminals

4th India International Women Film Festival 2008 has been completed successfully. Next year our festival dates are as follows : 15th to 22nd December 2009, New Delhi. For the 4th Edition of this festival Mr Sandeep Marwah was nominated as Chief Advisor.

For the year 2009 Ms Shallu Jindal has been nominated as the Chief Advisor of the festival.
