It's the first clash of the season amongst the genuine Premiership title contenders. Here's what StatsOnSport make of it all Liverpool v Man Utd - Saturday 13th September 12:45 KEY MARKETS Match Odds Liverpool have lost nearly half (W10-D12-L19) of their games in the Abramovich (2003/04- ) era, including 15 of 24 in the league (W4-D5-L15), although they are W4-D7-L5 (W2-D4-L3 in the league) since back-to-back drubbings against Arsenal in 2007. Last season they avoided defeat in all four Premier League games against Chelsea and Arsenal - the first team to do so since United in 2002/03 - but lost both matches against the Champions. United comfortably topped the Big Four mini-league last season (W5-D3-L1 overall and W4-D1-L1 in the league) but, looking at recent Big Four clashes, it is hard to justify their win price being shorter than the Reds'. Since the start of 2006, home teams are W24-D13-L5 in those matches - W18-D10-L3 in the league - although Liverpool (W6-D4-L3 and W3-D2-L2 respectively) are responsible for the bulk of those defeats. With the draw accounting for half of the 20 Big Four matches last season (5/12 in the league) - and 13 of the last 23 overall (7/14) - the value appears to lie in the stalemate. Correct score Four of the last eight meetings between these clubs have ended 1-0 to Man Utd, including three of the last five at Anfield. Three of the five Big Four games at Anfield last season ended 1-1, with that score accounting for five of the last eight - and nine of the last 23 - Big Four clashes between all teams, so it looks too long at 7.0. HT/FT Liverpool have outscored their opponents 11-6 in their last 16 first halves against the Big Four but the reverse is true (F6-A11) in the second half, with the W/D the most common result in that time (4/16). In recent seasons, the most common HT/FT results on the road against the Big Four for United have been the D/D and L/L - accounting for six (three each) of their 10. Last season, roughly three quarters of the Big Four matches ended as W/W (5/18), W/D or D/W (both 4/18) for the home team. Liverpool clean sheet Liverpool have blanked their visitors in only 11 of their last 25 home league matches - the fewest amongst the Big Four - and have managed just three clean sheets in their last 24 games against the Big Four - all against Chelsea in the Champions League. United have failed to score in only one of their last 37 league matches (at Bolton), and found the net in all nine of their matches against the Big Four last term. 1.41 is short, but the 'No' looks like value here. Man Utd clean sheet Liverpool have scored only once in their last eight attempts against Man U, although they have only failed to score in two of their last 24 home league matches and two of their last 14 at home to the Big Four in all competitions. United have kept clean sheets in five of their last 10 away to the Big Four - and nine of their 20 away games since the start of last season.
