India's largest telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on slashed STD charges on its cellular and fixed-line calls by upto 50 percent. As per the announcement, STD rates for landline services have been reduced from Rs2.40 to 1.20 paise per minute to all networks . Rural customers can avail STD calls for 0.80 paise per minute. The intra-circle call charges to BSNL network and inter circle (STD) call charges to all the networks, has also been reduced by 50 percent.
