US Treasury takes control of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. In order to restore the slumping housing market in the United States, the US Treasury department has started taking some actions - the US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson has announced that the government will take control over the troubled mortgage gaints Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
