Uttarakhand High Court - SC issues notice to Uttarakhand Govt on SAP

The Supreme Court has refused to stay the Uttarakhand High Court's order which asked state sugar mills to pay higher state advised price than their counterparts in Uttar Pradesh. A bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat, while refusing to stay the judgement, sought reply from Uttarakhand goverment that imposed higher SAP on state sugar mills. It also refused to restrain state government from taking any coercive steps towards recovery of SAP. The High Court had upheld state government's decision to fix SAP for 2007-08 crushing season at Rs 132 per quintal for early maturing variety and Rs 127 for general variety.
