Vijender Kumar of INDIA out punches Angkhan, enters quarters in boxing

Continuing the stupendous show of Indian boxers, Vijender Kumar stormed into the quarter-finals of 75kg middleweight event of the Beijing Olympics after overwhelming Angkhan Chomphuphuang of Thailand 13-3 in a lop-sided pre-quarterfinal bout at the Workers Gymnasium in Beijing Olympics. Vijender went on the offensive right from the word go and easily overpowered his opponent as the Indian mixed superb reflexes with a controlled aggression, not giving any chance to the Thai. After a cautious start and taking a 2-0 lead in the first round, Vijender went all out in the second round extending the lead to a healthy 6-1. A hapless Thai, trying too hard, saw his punches going haywire in the face of nimble footwork by the Indian. Angkhan could not score a single point in the third round while Vijender added another four making it 10-1 and the writing was clear on the wall.
