Shane Warne and Shane Watson took control as the Rajasthan Royals opened their Indian Premier League account with victory over the Kings XI Punjab overnight. Captain-coach Warne took the outstanding figures of 3 for 19 as the Kings XI were restricted to 166 off their 20 overs at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. The Royals then easily overhauled the total with Watson hammering an unbeaten 76 off just 49 deliveries, breaking a bat along the way.

Indian under-19 star Ravindra Jadeja joined Watson at the crease and finished on 36 not out as they guided their team home.
