I have a question: To watch the Oscars live on this site, do you have to live in the US to be able to watch ? Or is it also available for viewers outside of the US ? I really wanna see the award show, but they're not airing it where I live :( So if someone would please answer to my question, that would be great ! Xxx

I third this question, hehe. since i live in sweden and cant get the channel that supposedly airs the oscars here, my only hope is to find a free live stream somwhere on the internet...

Let me tell you something, broadcast of worldwide events like the Olympic Games, World Cup, Oscar's, Grammy's, Super Bowl, etc. cannot be broadcasted online.

The reason is that producers don't want re-broadcasters make profit of this events.

Let's say that this site, humsurfer.com grab the signal and then show it to the world. Humsurfer.com know that thousands of people are going to watch this online and can charge advertisers for commercials posted on this web page.

The producers of the show don't get any money of it. Humsurfer.com is not going to share the money with the producers of the Oscar's, so that's why is not allowed to broadcast events like those.

If Humsurfer.com wants to do the right thing, they need to pay 'royalties' and guess what?, the producer's of the Oscar's charge HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS so I doubt that anyone wants to reproduce this show.

Bad news for all but this is the way it works.

Try to watch it locally on TV or wait until someone place videos on the net.

Is there anyone actually answering these questions? I'm from the netherlands and the Oscar's are only aired on digital tv. Guess what.. I don't have it. Since the first question was asked 2 days ago and is yet unanswered, I have to wonder if this is for real.

There will be plenty of places to watch it for free . Last years Oscars got me into watching free streams , always thought it would be tough but over the last year I've lost count of the number of events I've seen for free . Log on here - or even better, at TVU - and if you have trouble locating it then have a look what people are saying in the message section . Trust me..it should be easy to find . Best wishes to all .

tvokay doesnt stream from the correct abc channel, only place I have been able to find is channelsurfing.net. They have a stream in very good quality, sadly this stream seems to be locked to a certain size. Too bad since many of their other streams can be scaled up.

Hi fellow Oscar live online seekers, I just checked out 'channelhaven.com' and it looks like the live coverage of tonight's awards show comes via China, according to channelhaven's info. If this is true, the only problem would be the simultaneous translation from English into Mandarin, if this is the language. That would cut into the audio flow. I'm assuming there would be live audio translation, maybe not though. My first effort to access the Chinese site through channelhaven.com was unsuccessful. I was able to do it on second try.

About ABC's channelsurfing.com site, in my search, I came upon a couple of sites that reported that live transmission of the awards show would begin at 11pm EST, in other words, after the live event has concluded. It seems to me that this information is accurate.

I just clicked onto the website in Sopcast and they are showing golf coverage, in English, so there may be Oscar coverage in English too.... but then again maybe not. Sorry I can't be of more help

no problem, were just trying to identify the best option. After looking at a tvguide it seems to me that the stream at channelsurfing is following the schedule. And since this is a feed directly from abc it seems to me to be the best option so far, only drawback is that the imagesize cant be made bigger. Still better than having a foreign language talking over the audio.

It sure can be made bigger :) In IE7, go to the Page>Zoom in/Zoom out>choose the option that works best for you (about 150% for me cause else it won't fit).

ps. Not sure about the language, because my IE is in Dutch, but it's quite easy to find. x Nicole

If basketball ends in about 10 minutes then its on schedule.

You can :) Use the magnifying glass drop-down menu, in the far down right corner and put it on the option that works best for you (for me that's about 150% cause else it won't fit in the screen).

Oscars play on NBC, but the extension "nbc.html" at channel haven plays the NBC shpping channel.. Keep on surfing! Came on! We might still find a place to watch them live!

Its working perfectly for me. Remember that it probably helps if you have a good internet connection. This is P2P streaming, meaning that you have to pass along the data that you get to others. If you have a good connection you will probably advance further up the foodchain.

To zoom you must use IE browser. I was also confused at first because no buttons exists in the stream image itself. You must use the magnifying glass on the gray bar of the browser window itself (lower right).

I have Mac and use safari. Had a perfect picture and sound just half hour ago but now its gone. This has happened a few times this evening since I first learned about this link. When it stopped transmitting the first time I kept reloading the site and suddenly it came back....but now its gone again.

Dunno but it is annoying. I've tried in Firefox and Safari and nothing is working.

My only advice is to leave the window open. It can take several minutes for the player to get enough connections in the network to display an image. Sadly this player gives no feedback as to what its doing, so its hard to know that its still loading.

One possability; too many people using this service at the same time...?

As long as people have the upload capacity to send the data that they receive on to a couple of people P2P streaming should be a "the more the marrier" type of deal.
