The 6G position is the spot that the test joint is mounted inside fixed 45 degree occupation. The welder must move through virtually every possible occupation while maintaining X-Ray top quality welding, to certify 6G. Subsequent 6G are other test positions. For example, pipe that's welded in the predetermined horizontal position is actually 5G. 3G is pipe that's fixed in the vertical position.
