The Presidential election soap opera is all set to climax, this week, and even as it ends a new soap is all set to unfold! The saga of choosing a Vice Presidential candidate and the subsequent election. It looks like this is also going to prove as much suspense-filled as the Presidential one was, going by the way in which the various actors have started giving hints.

Having been at the forefront of choosing a candidate for the President, the Congress leadership is now taking a backseat for the Vice Presidential choice. It is an unwritten agreement that the allies, which in this case means, the left parties and in it the CPI mainly will be at the forefront now. While in the Presidential elections, the left virtually held a veto power and they exercised it, much to the chagrin of the Congress leadership, it will be the latter's turn to veto or give a final green signal to the candidate, the left chooses.
