World Series line report: Football schedule to shift bets to MLB

Without Sunday night football on the schedule, sportsbooks are bracing for a rush of action on tonightâs Game 4 of the World Series between the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies.

John Avello, an oddsmaker for the Wynn Hotel Sportsbook, says once afternoon football games finish, bettors who want to keep wagering have only one option.

Tonightâs baseball game, which starts at 8:20 p.m. ET, has drawn a bit of action as of early Sunday afternoon but the lines could start bouncing once the final whistle goes on the Washington-New England NFL contest.

âI don't think this action will start until about an hour after the Pats game,â says Avello, who expects two-way money on the World Series game. âAt this point itâs all over but the shouting.â

The Red Sox hold a commanding 3-0 series led and can win their second world championship in four year with a win tonight at Coors Field. Books have Boston set as a -137 favorite with young pitcher Jon Lester on the bump.

Lester has only seen action out of the bullpen this postseason, posting a 4.91 ERA in just under four innings of work.

Colorado hands the ball to returning starter Aaron Cook, who hasnât pitched since Aug. 10. Cook missed the final month and a half of the regular season and the first two rounds of the playoffs due to a strained oblique. He was 8-7 on the season with a 4.12 ERA.
