In this article, we will tell you about both the historical and modern architecture of the cosmopolitan city of Dubai and where we think you must go on your trip to Dubai.

Historical Monuments of Dubai

Burj Nahar

Burj Nahar is one of Dubai’s oldest monuments. It was built in the year 1870. It has three watchtowers that were created for the purpose of keeping the foreign invaders from entering the old city. It tells us about the history of the UAE. The tower positioned on the outskirts of Deira district was restored completely in the year 1992. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden which has become a great attraction for tourists from all around the world.

Dubai Museum

Dubai Museum which is located in Al Fahidi Fort is one of the many fortifications that were created to protect the old city of Dubai from foreign invaders. It is a fort that was once a monarch residence, it was also an arsenal for weapons and prison for those who didn’t follow the law. In 1971, the originally built fort made with shells and corals was cemented with lime and reopened again to become what we today know as Dubai Museum where it tells us the tales of Dubai’s rich heritage and culture. It gives us an insight into the life of the desert, the Arab culture, their daily lives, their trades, and their mosques. Keeping this in your list of destinations to visit in Dubai is a must for every traveller.

Bastakiya Quarters

Baskatiya Quarters is built in the oldest district of Dubai known as Bur Dubai. The quarters’ name was earned because of the several Iranian Bastak traders who settled here in the 19th century. It is one of Dubai’s oldest standing residential areas, hence, when you visit the city it gives its tourists glimpses of the ancient life of Emiratis. Tourists find this ancient fort a beautiful destination that gives them a peaceful break from all the glamour and glitz of the modern city of Dubai.

Architectural Masterpieces

Now that we have explored some of the historical architectures of Dubai, let’s head over and discuss the modern architectural monuments.

Burj Khalifa

It is almost impossible for one to be in Dubai and not see or know of Burj Khalifa. The tallest building in the world to be built by a man reached its completion in 2009. The skyscraper has 163 floors. Its launch happened in 2010 as a part of a new development known as Downtown Dubai. It also holds the record of the tallest elevator in the world. It also has the world’s tallest mosque and the world’s tallest swimming pool in it. You will also find the Dubai Fountain and the Burj Khalifa park outside of it. It truly is an architectural masterpiece and wonder.

Cayan Tower

Cayan Tower, which was completed in 2013, is a 73 story tall building. It was also known as Infinity Tower before its inauguration. The second tallest high-rise skyscraper is twisted around 90 degrees from the bottom to the top. Each floor is rotated 1.2 degrees against the floor below it. This residential building looks absolutely wonderful in the skyline of Dubai. It is both astonishing and subtle.
